At a glance

• Your audio never leaves your phone. Recording and transcription happen on your device; each recording is deleted the moment it becomes text.
• Everything beyond your device is opt-in. No transcript is uploaded, and no AI analysis runs, without a consent you gave explicitly and can revoke at any time.
• We don't sell your data, show you ads, or train foundation models on your content.
• Insights cite their evidence. Every conclusion Vearo draws points to the exact moments it came from, so you can check it — and reject it.

What Vearo is

Vearo helps you understand who you are from how you actually live: it can record your day's conversations on your phone, turn them into private transcripts, and — with your consent — analyze those transcripts into an evidence-grounded portrait. This policy explains what data exists at each step, where it lives, and what control you have. Vearo is in private beta; this document will evolve, and material changes will be announced before they take effect.

What we collect, and where it lives

On your device (default — nothing leaves it):

• Microphone audio, processed in short chunks and deleted immediately after on-device transcription. Audio is never uploaded, and Vearo has no copy to give anyone.
• Transcripts, journal entries, and speaker attributions, stored in the app's private storage on your phone. Speakers are tracked as anonymous labels — Vearo follows that the same voice recurs so its understanding stays coherent, not who that voice belongs to.
• A display name you choose. No account is required for on-device use.

In your Vearo account (only if you connect one):

• Account basics: email address and a password (stored as a salted hash), device identifiers, and sync bookkeeping.
• Transcripts, only after you enable transcript sync — a separate, recorded consent.
• Analysis results: insights, the portrait, and audit records of each analysis run. Evidence is stored as pointers to transcript moments, and analysis records are scrubbed so verbatim transcript passages are not duplicated into them.

Consent, scoped and revocable

Vearo uses separate consent scopes: syncing transcripts to your account and letting AI analyze them are distinct choices, each recorded with a timestamp and policy version. You can revoke either at any time. Revocation is enforced in the pipeline itself — an analysis run re-checks your consent before every model call and aborts mid-run if you withdraw it.

How AI analysis works

When you opt in, your consented transcript excerpts are sent to large-language-model providers — currently Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), and Google (Gemini) — under API terms that exclude your data from model training. Several models analyze independently and cross-check one another; a claim reaches you only when it cites real moments from your transcript and survives that scrutiny. Findings without enough independent agreement are shown as open questions, not conclusions.

Crash and error reporting

To keep Vearo reliable, the app and our services automatically send crash and error reports to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). These reports describe what the software was doing when it failed and never include your recordings or transcripts.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your data, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• Train our own or anyone else's foundation models on your content.
• Analyze anything without your explicit, current consent.
• Make you discoverable to anyone unless you choose to be.

Other people in your recordings

Conversations include other people. Vearo's analysis is about you — other speakers appear only as context, and insights are written about you as the subject. You are responsible for recording lawfully where you live (see the Terms of Use); many places require the consent of everyone recorded.

Retention and deletion

• Audio: deleted on your device the moment transcription completes — typically within a minute of being spoken.
• Transcripts and insights: kept until you delete them. Deleting a session removes its entries; deleting your account removes your synced data.
• Analysis audit records: kept so runs remain accountable, but scrubbed of verbatim transcript text by design.

Your rights

Wherever you live, we treat these as defaults: you can access and export your data, correct it, delete it, and withdraw any consent, without penalty. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific statutory rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar), those rights apply and we will honor them.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted (TLS). Sync uses per-device tokens stored only as digests. The cloud stores the minimum needed for the features you turned on, and the architecture is built so that removing raw transcripts leaves analysis records intact but pointing at nothing.

Age

Vearo is for adults. You must be at least 18 to use it.
